Practice Quilt--Finished

Given that life was a bit bumpy today, I'm especially proud to have finished putting on the binding. I hate bindings. But, steady stitching was better than the other alternatives. Technically, I'm not done because I need to add a tag...that's definitely a March project.

Practice Quilt and New Bedfellows

I'm a real quilter...I have cats, now! Lovely. George and Elfie are settling in, and I am cutting out fabric to make the binding on the quilt.

Tina Turner's New Face

I turned off the t.v. after watching Beyonce and Tina sing together at the Grammy's. Beyonce looks like a blonde Barbie Doll, and Tina Turner has destroyed her natural beauty and now has T.V. host bubble cheeks. Very distracting.
The top picture shows some truly inspiring machine quilting I saw at today's show. The bottom shows a block from a quilt made by different women in Africa. I was inspired and resumed working on a "practice" quilt--should be done soon!

The 10-Footer

Shawl-scarf-blanket. I'm only 5'2". It's 1/3 longer than it's supposed to be and nearly double the pattern's suggested width.
I plan to barter with the owner of the yarn shop--she's plenty tall.
The pattern is called "Bird's Nest" from the book Folk Shawls.

Reversible Quilt

2006. Many thanks to Judy Doenias who taught me her method of Quilt As You Go at The City Quilter in New York City.

Blue-Eyed Bronco

I finished this one in December of 2006. It is the first quilt I completed with a ton of machine quilting. Lap-quilt.

The Baby Jane

I learned to quilt sans machine in 2003 at The City Quilter in NYC. The bottom center block is the first I did by hand. The original quilt from which these blocks are copied has 125 original blocks. I've completed 74.

I want to add photos of quilts.

Death of a website, birth of a blog

It took insomnia to get me to start a blog. $11.95 less than a website from which I sell nothing. Let's see how it goes.
